India’s LNG tanker ‘Disha’ has reached Gujarat’s Dahej Port after safely crossing the Strait of Hormuz with 62,370 metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas from Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal. Operated by a consortium led by the Shipping Corporation of India and chartered by Petronet LNG, the shipment is expected to strengthen energy availability amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
The vessel, carrying 62,370 metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas from Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal, reached the Dahej LNG terminal on Friday morning. ‘Disha’ is operated by a consortium led by the Shipping Corporation of India and has been chartered by Petronet LNG.
The arrival of the tanker is expected to strengthen liquefied natural gas availability and support stable energy supplies across the country at a time when geopolitical developments in West Asia have heightened concerns over energy security.
Located in Gujarat’s Bharuch district, the Dahej LNG terminal is India’s largest liquefied natural gas import facility and serves as a crucial hub in the country’s natural gas distribution network.
The successful arrival of ‘Disha’ after its passage through the Strait of Hormuz underscores the importance of uninterrupted maritime energy routes and reinforces India’s efforts to maintain stable fuel supplies despite regional uncertainties in West Asia.
